Laura Sarrubbo, beloved wife of Anthony Sarrubbo for 67 years, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. Laura was the heart and soul of her family and community, known for her unwavering love, generosity, and captivating spirit.
Laura is survived by her devoted husband Anthony; her cherished children, Steven Sarrubbo (Chris Anne), Camille Sarrubbo (Michael Breen), Francesca Furlani, and Paul Sarrubbo (John Anen); and her adored granddaughters, Samantha, Gabriele, and Sophia. She was the proud matriarch of a family whose bonds were strengthened by her loving presence.
Many will remember Laura as the vivacious woman behind the counter at Sport-o-Rama's snack bar, affectionately known as the "little redhead." Or “Luscious Laura” as some of her close friends and coworkers called her. Laura’s culinary prowess was legendary, with her eggplant dish being a Rockland favorite, earning her the title of Aunt Laurie to many.
A selfless soul, Laura's compassion extended beyond her immediate family. She opened her heart and home to the less fortunate, adopting a child and raising Francesca as her own. The neighborhood children found solace and a warm meal at Laura's table, where love was always the main ingredient.
Laura's love for Atlantic City was no secret. Weekends spent at the resorts, eyes fixed on the slots, hoping for that big win, created countless memories for her and her loved ones. Her passion for music was contagious, and her beautiful voice echoed in the hearts of her daughters, who pursued musical careers in local bands. Her sons, inspired by her love for the arts, embraced acting, and graced the stage with their talent. Laura's legacy lives on in her granddaughters, whose voices, reminiscent of angels, continue to fill the air with melody.
Despite her love for the water, as the family's designated lifeguard, it remained a mystery to many that Laura never learned to swim. Yet, it was her courage and determination that left an indelible mark on those who knew her best.
Among the cherished memories of Laura are the summers spent at 50 E Bonita, where the Jersey Shore became a backdrop for laughter, joy, and extended family gatherings.
Laura is reunited in heaven with her parents and her brother, whom she lost tragically before her twentieth year. While she may have left this world, her spirit remains etched in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
