

Marion Agnes Manecky Nicholson, 84, passed away on April 15, 2020. She was born on January 5, 1936, in White Plains, NY to Edward and Viola Gallagher Manecky. She married William Fabian Nicholson on January 23, 1954 at Saint Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church in White Plains, NY.
Marion lived in White Plains, New York and Rockland County, New York, the last of which she considered home for sixty years. She was President of the Suffern Garden Club and an active member of the choral group, Sweet Adolines. Marion received the Certificate of Merit for her volunteer services from the State of New York, as well as being recognized by the Dr. Robert L. Yeager Health Center four years in a row, where she administered pastoral care. Her volunteer services at the Rockland County Infirmary at Summit Park Hospital were acknowledged as well as her volunteer works at Good Samaritan Hospital. Additionally, the Town of Ramapo presented her with the Humanitarian Award in appreciation for the time and effort she devoted volunteering in the community. She loved to swim, read, sing and dance and enjoyed a good brisk walk each day.
Marion was a devoted member of the Roman Catholic Church and a Eucharistic Minister at Saint Boniface Church in Suffern, New York.
She is survived by her children, Robin Chesbro of Gold Canyon, Arizona, Leslie A. Streit of Quakertown, Pennsylvania, Margaret Nicholson of Springfield, Illinois, Marion and Paul Benvenuto of Hillburn, New York, William and Kristin Nicholson of Hillburn, New York, Elizabeth and John Shoemaker of Bedminster, New Jersey, Julie and Geza Bujtas of Long Valley, New Jersey, Christopher and Melissa Nicholson of Casselberry, Florida. Marion was grandmother to Rachael and Leah, Robin and Logan, Terra and William, Mia and Amy, Rebecca, Genevieve, Hailey and Christian, as well as great-grandmother to Sydney, Quinn and Selleck.
Interment will take place at the Ascension Cemetery on Saddle River Road in Airmont, New York. A date to celebrate Marion’s life will be determined in the future.
The family wishes to thank all of the caregivers at Atrium Post Acute Care of Park Ridge, New Jersey, especially Michelle, for their many years of tending to Marion and for helping her final days to be peaceful ones.
