On Thursday, September 21, 2023, Michael “Jack” Kelly, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away at his Sloatsburg home surrounded by his family. He was 89. Jack was born in the Bronx, NY, to Bridget Naughton Kelly and Michael Kelly. He served in the United States Army and Army Reserves from 1957-1963. Jack was a proud member of the FDNY for 38 years, a lieutenant at Engine 83 in the Bronx and a founding member of the FDNY Pipe Band.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Clare Fallon Kelly; his children, Jeane Ventola and her husband Sam, John Kelly, Sheila Conese and her husband Tom, and Francis Kelly; his grandchildren Danielle Rumler and her husband Michael, Sam Ventola and his wife Jennifer, Fallon Ventola, Jack Ventola, Michael Kelly and his wife Caroline, Arlene Kelly and her husband Craig Mende, Nolan Kelly, Owen Kelly, Julia Conese and Natalie Conese; his great-grandchildren Charlotte, Alice, and Rosalie Rumler, Sam and Jessie Ventola, and Maeve and Rory Mende.
In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by his beloved son, Michael Kelly, his brother and sister-in-law, George and Dorothy Kelly, and his brothers-in-law, Eugene Fallon and Patrick Collins.
A visitation for Jack will be held Tuesday, September 26, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, New York 10901. A Roman Catholic Mass will occur Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at 10:30 AM at St Joan of Arc Church, 52 Eagle Valley Rd, Sloatsburg, New York 10974. An internment will occur Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, 36 West Nyack Road, Nanuet, NY 10954.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his honor to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
