

Richard P. Galante, age 78, of Forked River, New Jersey passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018. Richard was born February 14, 1939 in New York, NY to Mary (Terranova) Galante and Vincent James Galante. Richard was predeceased in death by his wife of 31 years Joan C. Galante in November 1994. He married his wife Janice (Dillon) Galante in December 1996. Richard served in the Army Reserves from 1961-1963. He began working as a Fireman in the FDNY for Engine 83 in the Bronx in 1964. Richard retired as a Fireman from Engine 52 in the Bronx in 1984. He moved to Rockland County in 1971 with his wife Joan. He was very active in his community, and a founding father of the Jack H. Feinstein Ramapo Athletic Association little league. He was a very active member of St. Boniface Church in Wesley Hills, NY for years before moving to Forked River, NJ where he attended St. Barnabas Church in Bayville, NJ.
Richard is survived by his wife Janice Galante, sons Vincent P. Galante (Cheryl), Richard A. Galante (Maureen), Peter M. Galante (Terumi), Scott Tirella (Maureen), daughters Carrie Campanile (Robert) and Shannon Giordano (David) and by 16 adored grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 4-8PM on Monday, February 5, 2018 at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10AM Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at St. Boniface Church, Wesley Hills, NY. Burial will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Airmont, NY.
