With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Robert Frank Cosenzo on May 29, 2025, at the age of 55. Robert is pre-deceased by his father, Robert Sr, and is survived by his loving mother, Teresa Cosenzo; his devoted sisters, Eva Cosenzo and Michelle Neidkowski (Brad); and his cherished nephews, Travis Crew, Jacob Crew, and Grayson Neidkowski.
As a lifelong Rockland County resident, he will be remembered for his quiet strength, sharp wit and sarcasm, and the joy he found in the worlds he explored—both real and virtual. As a child, Robert found trouble easily, especially with the nuns at school, and he once provoked his sister Eva's ire so much that he was rewarded with a rock thrown at his head. He also found trouble in the kitchen by eating the family's cold cuts late at night and dropping a pitcher of iced tea all over his mom's freshly-mopped floor. Robert loved his white Ford Mustang in the 90's, even driving it all the way to Florida with friends. Robert was a passionate and lifelong gamer who introduced his family to the NES gaming console, perhaps to his dismay when he arrived home from work to find them playing games in his room. Robert's love for high fantasy games and literature reflected his boundless imagination and enduring spirit of adventure. Robert was also a diverse music lover, treasuring his KISS records and learning to play the guitar in his younger days, collecting Mariah Carey CDs, and unintentionally introducing his sister Michelle to bands like Nine Inch Nails and Tool. He learned to ski when he was in his 20's, and often took ski trips to VT with friends. Robert was a kind and compassionate person who put everyone else's needs before his own, especially worrying about his mother, whom he visited weekly. Robert had a generous and thoughtful heart towards both people and animals. As a driver, he went out of his way to ensure his passengers' comfort and safety, offering more than just a standard ride. He enjoyed watching live streams of baby animals online, and owned 2 blind cats. Residents of Robert's apartment building shared how much he truly helped them, not because he had to, but because he wanted to. He went out of his way to help others and acted with generosity, without expecting anything in return.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, June 6, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home. A prayer service will follow at 12:00 PM, after which Robert will be laid to rest at Ascension Cemetery in Airmont, NY.
Robert’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him and in the stories he treasured most.
