The youngest of 12 children, Terrie was born at home on East 93rd street to Irish immigrant parents James and Mary Dunn. She was raised on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and attended St. Ignatius Loyola school and graduated from Julia Richman High School. She worked as an operator for the New York Telephone Company, where she met her future husband Don. After they married they moved to Airmont, New York, where she raised her four children. Once her children were grown Terrie went back to work at Herman Miller in New York City. She was a devout Catholic and frequently attended Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Suffern, New York.
Aside from the love for her children and especially her grandchildren, Terrie loved nothing more than a clean house, shoe shopping and a good Bloody Mary. Always a beauty, she dressed with style and taste and would never leave the house without her hair perfectly coiffed and makeup on. A romantic at heart, she loved to read and write poetry and share it with her family and friends. Terrie was kind, loving, and charming and she never failed to tell people how special they were.
What Terrie’s loved ones will remember most about her is her sharp wit and hilarious sense of humor. She had no trouble laughing at herself and could find the humor in almost anything. Her gorgeous smile and contagious laugh will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Terrie loved to be surrounded by her family and friends. She was able to connect with any and everyone and her experiences with loss made her deeply empathetic and understanding. She was predeceased by her husband Donald (1929-2016), her son David Andrew (1961-1993), and her grandson Matthew (1988). She is survived by her sister Joan Schuler, her last living sibling; her daughters Donna Cioffi and husband Vincent, Cathy Davies and partner Donald, and Sandra Wissell and partner David; her grandchildren Kyle Paolucci and wife Melissa (Donna), Taylor Vidal and wife Emily (Cathy), Daniel and Eric (Donna), and Lucas and Olivia (Sandra); and her great-grandchildren Avery and Ryan (Kyle and Melissa) and Carter (Taylor and Emily). Her family takes comfort in knowing that she will be reunited with her husband of 60 years; her beloved son David, who made her laugh harder than anyone; her parents; her cherished siblings; and of course, her best friend Rosemary.
