Virginia “Ginny” Furlan of Tallman, NY passed away on June 29, 2022 at the age of 91. She was born on June 7, 1931 in the Bronx, NY where she grew up with her parents Mary and Gaetano DeVito and her sisters Marie, Anne and her brothers Vincent and Nicky.
She was a woman who did it all! Her first job as secretary for the president of Bloomingdales led her to a candy store owner in Queens, to waitressing at the Tallman Pancake House and Ramapo Diner in Suffern, NY. She was mostly known for her luncheonette “Ginny’s Place” in Hillcrest NY, plus owning and operating another restaurant and food truck. She held many administrative positions notably at Good Sam hospital and property manager for Palisades Gardens in Pomona, NY. All these positions demonstrated her intelligence, work ethic and extensive range of abilities.
Virginia is survived by her children, Peter Furlan, Valerie DiBari and Karen May, grandchildren, Chris Ernst, Julia Furlan & Rocco DiBari, daughter in-law Rachelle Furlan, son in-laws Mark DiBari and Bob May and great granddaughter Melina Ernst.
There are so many wonderful memories with far too many to list, yet any occasion, holiday or life celebration was touched with Ginny’s zest for life, her laughter, her signature baked chicken and rice pudding dishes and her love and passion for cake and pastries and real whipped cream. She was also a family leader and photographer at all these occasions. She touched everyone’s lives that she encountered with love and generosity, especially with her 3 grandchildren.
The family would like to thank for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in their final days.
Memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 11AM -3PM at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be celebrated also on Wednesday at 3PM also at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home.
