

Yaroslav Pankiv, born on July 16, 1972, the beloved son of Stepan and Sofia Pankiv, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, at Hackensack Hospital, surrounded by his family. Yaroslav faced his illness with courage and strength, fighting hard every minute of his life.
Yaroslav is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Mariya Pankiv, and their cherished children: Chrystyna, Michael and Sophia. He will also be deeply missed by his sisters Maria, Oleksandra, and Olga. He was predeceased by his brother, Volodymyr Pankiv.
He leaves behind his nieces Alexandra, Ivanna, Julianna, Dariya, Dianna, Anastasia, and; his nephews Ruslan, Rostyslav, Yaroslav, and Dennis; as well as many great nieces and great nephews who adored him.
Born and educated in Ukraine, Yaroslav earned a Master’s degree in Physics from Lviv State University. His brilliant mind and unwavering dedication guided him into a successful career in technology, and for the past four years he proudly served as a Senior Software Engineer at Cognizant Technology Solutions.
Yaroslav was a man with a generous heart. He loved tending to his garden, nurturing life with the same care and patience he showed his family. He loved to travel, finding joy in discovering new places and cultures.
Yaroslav will be remembered for his kindness, intelligence, spirit, and steadfast love for his family. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched. He was loved by his family and will be missed. He will always be in our hearts.
A visitation will be held at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home on Thursday February 12, 2026 from 4p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Friday , February 13, 2026 at 10am at St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Spring Valley, NY with burial to follow at Ascension Cemetery, 650 Saddle River Rd Airmont, New York.
