

Zaheer “Z” Azeez of Tuxedo Park, NY passed away on July 21, 2022, at the age of 50. He was born on April 19, 1972, in Georgetown, Guyana where he grew up with his parents Bibi and Abdool Azeez and his sister Natisha Azeez-Doherty. He graduated from the University of Rochester in 1993, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He embarked on his public service journey, entering the New York City Police Department in the summer of 1994. Upon graduation, he was assigned to the 48th Precinct. For the last fourteen years, he has served in various positions such as being an Executive Officer in Patrol Borough Manhattan North, a Commanding Officer of Patrol Borough Manhattan North, a Commanding Officer of Transit District 11, and a Commanding Officer of Transit Borough Brooklyn. He was promoted to the rank of Inspector on June 24, 2022. Zaheer was an avid traveler and enjoyed bringing friends and family along. He was also an active cigar sommelier, with an appreciation for the finer things in life. He is survived by his wife, Yubelkis Azeez, and their children, Sasha Azeez, Caroline Azeez, and Alan Azeez, as well as his parents Bibi and Abdool Azeez, and sister Natisha Azeez-Doherty. There are so many wonderful memories with far too many to list, yet any occasion, was touched by Zaheer’s hospitality, humor, and dynamic presence. He took amazing care of his family and set a strong foundation for them to move forward. He was loved and adored by many people and will be missed. Family and friends are invited to attend services at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home at 177 NY-59, Suffern, NY 10901 on July 27 starting at 9:30AM.
