Cruz is now united in heaven with his loving wife of 54 years, Rosie Velasquez. Together they have three children, Lisa Emiliani and husband, Kirk; Julie Olesen and husband, Tony; Matthew Cruz Velasquez and wife, Jennifer; and ten grandchildren Kyle, Lauren, Megan, Marisa, Jacob, Caitlin, Addison, Sebastian, Sofia, and Isabella.
Faith and family were the most important things to him and he was blessed with a loving family and many wonderful friends and neighbors. Cruz also loved sports. He played basketball at St. Edward’s University and was always eager to help coach his kids and grandkids.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 21 from 5-8pm at Settegast-Kopf @Sugar Creek Funeral Home. A rosary will follow at 7pm. A Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 22 at 2:00pm at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Sugar Land, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Cruz’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or St. Theresa Church SVDP Food Pantry.
