Debra “Debbie” Ann Stevenson (née Burnett) passed away peacefully in Sugar Land, Texas, on 31 October 2020, at 66. Debbie was born on 5 July 1954 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, to Colonel (Ret) Clark Albert Burnett and Barbara Burnett.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Burnett.
Debbie is survived by her husband of 26 years, CW4 (Ret) Harry R. Stevenson III; father, Colonel (Ret) Clark Burnett of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Cheryl Lynn Siegfried and husband Scott of Jacksonville, FL; nephew, Michael Siegfried and wife Courtney of Kansas City, MO.
She graduated from Northern Virginia Community College in 1993 with an Associate degree while holding a full-time job with the Army Civilian Service. She married CW4 (Ret) Harry R. Stevenson III, a U.S. Army Master Aviator, in July 1994. Debbie worked at Davison Army Airfield, where she began working for the Director of Logistics and was then promoted to the Commanding Officer’s Secretary. She finished her Army Civilian Service in the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff Logistics, Pentagon, Washington DC.
After relocating to Texas, she was employed by the Fort Bend Independent School District in the Special Education Department, where she worked for more than 15 years until her retirement in 2016. Debbie loved her four-legged friends and would go out of her way to help rescue and home any animals. She was always quick with a joke and could deliver the punchline better than most. Her sense of humor was second-to-none.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, 12 November 2020 at 1:00 PM at The Settegast-Kopf Company @ Sugar Creek Funeral Home, 15015 Southwest Fwy, Sugar Land, Texas 77478. A reception will be immediately following at the same location.
