

On Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2020, Gregorio “Gerry” Jimenez, Jr., loving husband, selfless father to his three sons, beloved “lolo” (grandfather) of his 4 grandchildren, the favorite uncle of his many nephews and nieces and adopted “tito” to the many friends of his children and agency nurses at his work, passed away at age 73 after a brief battle with lung cancer.
Gerry was born on August 17, 1947 in Anda, Pangasinan, Philippines to Gregorio Jimenez, Sr. and Eloisa Castil Jimenez. He was married to the love of his life Virginia de Perio Jimenez for 46 years and raised their three sons – Derrick, Dennis, and Sandy. He studied business at the University of the East in Manila, worked in sales for a local distributor of printing machineries and then started and managed his own printing company.
He and Virginia committed their time and effort on many social and religious causes in the Philippines. They were active members of Worldwide Marriage Encounter and facilitated numerous marriage enrichment weekend retreats to foster better communications and trust among married couples and strengthen the family unit. They were also active members of Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals (BCBP) and promoted the Christian way of life into the local business world while practicing moral integrity and Christian values in their trade. They helped safeguard freedom in the Philippines as independent poll watchers and took to the streets of Manila in peaceful protests that became the 1986 People Power Revolution.
In 1995, he and his family emigrated to the United States and settled in Sugar Land, Texas where his mom and most of his siblings were residing. Gerry and his family have since adopted United States as their new home country. He has since worked as a payroll manager for a nurse staffing agency in Houston. He liked spending time playing soccer with his grandchildren. His past time at home included gardening and doing some home projects.
Gerry was preceded by his father Gregorio Jimenez, Sr.; his mother Eloisa Castil Jimenez and his sister Alice Pulido. He is survived by his wife Virginia; his children – Derrick with wife Ann, Dennis and Sandy; his grandchildren – Dominic, Darren, Dylan and Darlene and his siblings Helen Dichoso, Ike Jimenez, Betsy Manuel and Argie Jimenez.
A vigil service will be held on Saturday December 12, 2020 at The Settegast-Kopf Co At Sugar Creek Funeral Directors 15015 Southwest Freeway Sugar Land, TX from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM (Rosary Service begins at 6pm). A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday December 15, 2020 at St. Laurence Catholic Church 3100 Sweetwater Blvd Sugar Land TX at 10:00 AM followed by Interment services at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston, TX.
