

HELEN RUTH THURSTON BEAUCHAMP, born December 7, 1934, in Bernie, Missouri, passed away Monday, December 26, 2011. Helen graduated from Bernie High School in 1952, and won many medals in typing and shorthand at competitions all across the state of Missouri. She worked as a professional secretary in St. Louis and Denver, finally moving to Houston in 1955 to work for Tenneco. Helen was a member at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church since 1955, where she was a Stephen’s Minister, a longtime member of the Candlelighters Sunday School Class, and was involved in women’s bible study groups within the community. She was a creative person and enjoyed all kinds of sewing and needlecraft, painting, gardening, and cooking. She also enjoyed fishing and playing bridge. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, Edwin Andrew Beauchamp. She is survived by her two daughters, Stacy Beauchamp Carnahan and her husband Mark, and Stephanie Beauchamp; grandson, Chase Austin Carnahan; brother, G.R. Thurston; and sisters, Melba Baker, Thelma Hartley, Mary Norman, and Shirley Zimmerman. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 6, 2012, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 5501 Main St., Houston, TX 77004, with a reception at the church following the service.
