JaNeil was born on July 22nd, 1935 in Augusta County, Virginia just outside of Staunton, Virginia. She was the daughter of Otto Rawling Moore and Pearl Virginia (Smith) Moore.
She graduated from Wilson Memorial High School class of 1954 and Dunsmore Business College in Staunton, Virginia. Then went on to work at King’s Daughter Hospital in Staunton.
JaNeil and John Kiser were married on July 17th, 1954 in Augusta County, Virginia. During their time together they enjoyed traveling, nature hikes, taking pictures of each other, cruising in their boat with their dog Pepper and spending time with their family and friends in their cabin in the woods.
After John’s sudden death in 1974, she remarried in 1977 to James Gray and moved to Texas. After their divorce in 1982 she stayed in Texas for the remainder of her life.
She was Vice-President and part owner of ProMed Services, a medical billing company, from 1981 until her retirement in 2015.
She could make a friend out of anyone. She enjoyed talking to strangers and friends alike. JaNeil would recount all the interesting people she met and the conversations she had with fellow travelers on her flights back and forth from her home in Texas to visit family in Virginia.
Her potato soup is legendary and when she asked what she should bring to a family get-together that was always requested. However, we were never able to recreate it, even when she told us the ingredients because it was always “this much” milk or “that much” cream.
During retirement she loved working in her yard, bird watching, redecorating her house and doing puzzles. She got the most enjoyment talking to and spending time with her children and grandchildren and a recent great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband John, sisters Virginia Gregory and Rachel Westerlind and brother Charles Moore.
She is survived by her son Derek Kiser and wife Jennifer of Conroe, Texas, daughter Sandra Emanuel and husband Jimmy of Missouri City, Texas, grandchildren Emily, Sarah and wife Sarah Frances, Nicholas and fiance Caithryn, Mary, Evan, Matthew and great-grandchild JD, four sisters, Ellen Taliaferro, Nancy Kiser, Pat Bradley, Ottie Johnson and four brothers, Melvin Moore, Harry Moore, Ronnie Moore and Glen David Moore and many nieces and nephews. She was also survived by extended family Chris Queret and wife Charity of Cypress, Texas and Joe and Kelli Jackson of Richmond, Texas and their children Shelby, Coby, Braden and their grandchild Brielle.
Funeral Service will be at Settegast-Kopf Funeral Home at Sugar Creek in Sugar Land, Texas on Saturday, March the 12th at 10:00 AM.
She will be interred next to her beloved husband John at Augusta Memorial Park in Augusta County, Virginia at a later date.
