Jesus Gilberto Guerra Farias

Jesus Gilberto Guerra Farias passed away on Friday, December 22nd, 2023 in Sugar Land TX. at the age of 50. He was born in Maracaibo, Zulia, Venezuela to parents Gilberto Guerra and Beatriz Farias on August 21st, 1973.

He was a Petroleum Engineer for 25 years. His hobbies included distance running and golf. He was a fan of the Astros baseball team, the Texans football team, and La Vino Tinto and Real Madrid soccer teams. He loved vacations, traveling with family, coffee, and his dogs. Jesus also enjoyed gathering at home with family and friends, having coffee with friends, dancing, singing, and fishing with friends. His deep faith was practiced throughout the walk of his life and as a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church where he was involved with ACTS and TMIY. He was steadfastly devoted to the St. Mother Mary.

Those left to cherish her memory are his parents; Gilberto Guerra and Beatriz Farias, his wife; of 22 years, Carolina Urdaneta, his children; Carlota, Julieta, and Jesus Samuel, his sisters; Adriana, Carolina, and Veronica, and his brother; Heberto and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to all family and friends that loved Jesus and prayed for him, the St. Laurence Church Community, Father Drew, Father Troung Son, and Father Jason, the ministries of St. Laurence Catholic School, ACTS, TMIY, and Adoration, La Parroguia Virtual Venezolana (PVV) and Coromotana, his doctors and nurses, neighbors, Chevron and co-workers.

A special thanks to Chris Salinas who brought or coordinated bringing the body and blood of Christ daily to Jesus when he was in bed and to all that were bringing blessing to Jesus’s home (food, flowers, prayers, rosaries, letters). Jesus received many demonstrations of faith, love, and compassion from friends and the community. Thanks to his siblings, nephews, and “los compadres” for showing love and taking care of Jesus during his suffering the last 3 months.

A visitation with a rosary will be held at The Settegast-Kopf Company at Sugar Creek 15015 SW FWY, Sugar Land TX 77478 on Thursday, December 28th 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m.

The Funeral Mass will take place at St. Laurence Catholic Church, 3100 Sweetwater Blvd. Sugar Land, TX 77479 on Friday, December 29th, 2023 at 10:00 a.m.

An inurnment is scheduled at Forest Park Southwest Cemetery 9040 FM359, Richmond, TX 77406 on Thursday, January 4th, 2024 at 3:30 p.m.
