John was born in Hong Kong, China, on January 13,1953, where he spent his early years of life. In 1959, when he was six years old, he immigrated with his family to America. He spent the remainder of his childhood and young adult life in Tucson, Arizona making life-long friends. John, lovingly known as Ho by close friends and family, attended the University of Arizona where he met Bridget. About a year before graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Architecture, John and Bridget married on August 7, 1977.
After graduation, John and Bridget moved to Sugar Land, Texas, where John started his career as a residential architect. They welcomed their one and only child into the world on October 17, 1986. While successfully balancing life as a new father, his unique talent and hard work led him to open his own architectural firm leaving behind a legacy of beautiful homes throughout the country. He spent the last several years of his life devoting himself to taking care of his parents after they were diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. John was a loving father and husband, a dedicated son and brother, a loyal friend and a talented architect. No words can do justice to the joy and comfort that he brought to those in his life. At the end of his life, John expressed that his only regret in life was not living long enough to see his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Bridget; daughter, Kristin Lasseter and son-in-law, Adam; brother, David Yeung; sisters, Carrie Yee, Betty Wong, and Mary Dong; and many nephews and nieces.
A private memorial service celebrating John's life was held at Sugar Land First United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 7, 2015.
