Marie was born on January 11, 1930, and lived a long, full life marked by deep faith, unwavering devotion to her family, and a gentle, loving spirit that touched everyone who knew her.
Marie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty-nine years, J.W. “Pete” Sandefer, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, partnership, and cherished memories. Together they built a home rooted in faith, kindness, and steadfast commitment to one another and to their family.
She is survived by her son, J.W. Sandefer, Jr.; her daughters, Carol Stanley (Darrell) and Patricia Greenway; her granddaughters, Jeannie Sandefer and Nicole (Chase) Swiney; her great-grandchildren, Eli and Owen Swiney; her brother, Earnest Jackson Jr. (Carol); and numerous other relatives and friends who will always hold her memory close.
Marie met Pete while he was serving in the U.S. Army in Ohio, and from the moment their paths crossed, they became inseparable. As a devoted wife and mother, she created a home filled with warmth, encouragement, and grace. Her family was the joy of her life, and she poured her heart into every moment she spent with them.
Known for her kindness, humility, and quiet strength, Marie had a remarkable ability to make others feel seen and cared for. She was a faithful supporter of Pete’s ministry and volunteer work and shared his deep love for nurturing and encouraging others. Her gentle spirit and steady presence were blessings to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Marie enjoyed simple joys—time with family, meaningful conversations, and the comfort of her home. Her grandchildren, Nicole and Jeannie, were among her greatest delights, and she cherished every moment she spent watching them grow.
