

Lynda Sue Phillips passed away peacefully at UTMB League City Hospital on 2-6-2022 in League City Texas at the age of 77. Lynda was a middle daughter of 3 girls born Jan 24, 1945 in Hutchinson KS to Vernon Harold and Bessie Lillian (Merriman) Streight.
She is preceded in death by her husband Terrell Truman Phillips of 47 years of marriage on Aug 11, 1973 in Fairway, KS, her parents, In-laws Herbert and Anna Marie (Holt) Phillips, paternal grandparents Ora Amos Sr. and Mary Ellen (Power) Streight, maternal grandparents John William and Susan Ella (Holt) Merriman. She is survived by her widowed sister Zaylah Sharon (Streight) Wells (Harry Arthur), sister Maryla Ann (Streight) Tiran (Jack Thomas), her children Amanda Kristin Grubbs (James William) and Zachary Truman Phillips and grandchildren Lindy Marie & Joy Lillian Grubbs.
She was brought to Houston by her husband Terry that was offered a job at Fluor Daniel in 1974 and lived in the same house till her passing. Lynda spent many years teaching piano to students of all ages, teaching Sunday School, directing hand bells, singing in the church choir, and most of all playing the organ all for Wilcrest Baptist Church in Houston Tx during the 80’s and 90’s. She was an accomplished knitter of quilts and Afghan blankets. She loved working in the garden, organizing family ancestry records, singing with the “Sweet Adaline’s” barber shop choir, and making her house into a comfortable home for her family.
Her recent interactions with the people around her, their response about her was that she was a sweet lady and left a Godly impression on them in one way or another. Whether it be simple advice or acts of kindness.
A memorial and funeral with graveside service is scheduled for Feb 14, 2022 @ 12 pm at Settegast-Kopf Funeral Home in Sugar Land, TX., burial @ Morton Cemetery in Richmond, Tx. with a small reception to follow.
