Marianne Fox Phillips passed away on November 5, 2023 and can now rest peacefully. Marianne was born February 15th 1949 in McAllen, Texas but, was raised her whole life in Houston, Texas. Marianne leaves behind many wonderful friends and a family that will miss her dearly and her infectious zeal for life. She never met a stranger and was loved by all that met her.
Marianne was married for 54 years to Guy Phillips whom she met in High School and had 3 children she was incredibly proud of Jason, Shannon and Emily. She couldn’t speak of them without beaming with pride and adoration. She spent most of her life teaching and guiding children, having been a preschool teacher for several years and ultimately an Assistant Librarian at Sharpstown Middle School. She would always share stories of how the children would come into the library on “off” times just to visit and hang out with Mrs. Phillips. Although she loved being a mentor to these young adults, her greatest joy was her grandchildren, Brayden and Carter (Jason (Janet) Phillips) and Jaxon and Blakely (Emily (TJ) Allen.
Marianne “Mimi” would drop anything to spend time with the grandkids and would forever be known as the “fun” Mimi. She treasured her special times with her grandkids and felt blessed to have them.
Marianne was always the rock of the family, making sure everyone stayed close, always the coordinator of family get togethers and vacations. Marianne is survived by her sister, Suzie (Bob) Mefford, brothers Mike (Sue) Fox and Tommy (Cheryl) Fox. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews she loved very much. If Marianne wasn’t spending time with family, she was surrounded by friends laughing and being silly. She would often be described by her friends as a hoot and loved having fun. She could run circles around most with her zest for life and her everlasting energy. She also adored animals and rescued many throughout the years. Marianne had an incredibly sensitive heart to anyone or anything in need and was eternally compassionate.
We are comforted knowing Marianne is resting in God’s Hands happy and healthy again making the angels laugh and reunited with loved ones. She will be missed.
