

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt was called to meet her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 9, 2016. Born in San Antonio to Wilbur and Bessie Adams on January 14, 1943, Mattie started her journey in humble beginnings as a carpenter’s daughter. Always striving to better herself and her family, she broke the molds in who she was. Being one of the first women salesperson in the glass industry, she broke that barrier for women to follow. Striving to make a difference in women’s lives, she was a founding member of the Fort Bend Women’s Center. She was always an advocate to bring an end to domestic violence and support those that could not help themselves. Mattie and JC were also founding members of Houston Area Glass Association, enriching the lives of glass workers by bringing knowledge to small glass shops in the Houston market. Her motto was to “Always Row Your Own Canoe”.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Bessie Adams, her brother Wilbur Adams, Jr., sister Virginia Adams, sons Joe Carrillo, Jr. and James Martin Carrillo. Leaving behind her soulmate and partner of 34 years, Joe R Carrillo and her sister Deborah Adams. Her children, James Lucas and wife Viveanne, Keith Lucas, Lori Lucas Freudensprung and husband Gene, Sylvia Jomarron, Patricia Bean, John Carrillo and his wife Rhonda. Her grandchildren, Storie Lucas, Caleb Lucas, Ashley Stark and husband James, Macey Godfrey and husband Brandon, Alexis Freudensprung, Kimberly Shea Lucas, Kelsey Lucas, Kaleigh Lucas, Daniel Jomarron and wife Amanda, Eric Jomarron, Jayme Bean, Jessica Bean Nelson and husband Jason, Kagan Carrillo Duebner and husband Kyle, Joshua Carrillo, Justin Carrillo, Jordan Carrillo, Travis Carrillo. Her Great-Grandchildren, MacKenzie Jomarron, Kruze Duebner, Maxwell Gabriel, Harper Godfrey, Piper Stark and due to be born in December, Mattie Stark. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Lastly, her beloved furbabies, Dwendie, Olivia, Tuxedo and Ringo.
A Celebration of her life will be on October 22, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at The Settegast-Kopf Co Funeral Directors, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land TX 77478.
