

Nalani Jean Layhee, who was affectionally known as Cissy by her family, was born on November 20, 1950, at Anderson Air Force Base in Guam. Nalani went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 20, 2026. She was adored for her faithful devotion to Christ, her husband, grandchildren, family, and friends. She loved growing in the Word with her brothers and sisters in Christ at the Missouri City and Sugar Land campuses and the authentic fellowship they shared in together.
Her husband, Pat, was dearly loved by Cissy and she was a devoted and caring wife. She loved her three children unconditionally and was always there to listen, support and encourage them in every season of their lives. She found incredible joy spending time with her grandchildren; they meant the world to her. Making home a warm and caring space for her grandchildren to visit and family to gather created cherished memories that will last a lifetime. Nalani loved the holidays and found joy in making them festive and meaningful. She was known for always making others feel special, cooking big breakfasts, setting a gorgeous table. creating delicious meals from scratch, throwing cheerful birthday celebrations, and selflessly serving her family with open arms and a generous heart.
Fresh flowers, cups of tea, big family vacations, pineapples, baking, and giving sweet Hallmark cards to her family were some of her favorite things. Nalani created a thriving habitat to raise and release butterflies. Along with her love of butterflies, she was often in the backyard with her high school sweetheart, Pat, gardening, birdwatching, and enjoying nature. Nalani also enjoyed driving along the Texas roads to see family. She dearly loved her daughter-in-law, Racheal and her two sons-in-law, Abel and Andy. She also genuinely loved her sisters and their families, along with seeing her nieces and nephews grow. She loved her dear friend, Mary and her family, Mary was like a sister to her. The memories, hugs with her grandchildren, family visits, friendships, Bible studies, words of encouragement, and good times shared throughout the years brought her such joy.
Nalani is survived by her loving husband, Patrick Layhee and three children Jennifer L. Figueredo, Jessica M. Trahan, and Patrick A. Layhee; her beloved grandchildren whom she treasured, Patrick, Hannah, Benjamin, Evan, Alex, and Julia; her sisters, Audrey Redmond, Avanette Aldebol, Tessie Ralphs, and Jennifer Ward; her nieces and nephews, and many extended family members, and friends who will miss her dearly. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Douglas and Lorraine Walters.
Nalani’s love for Christ and her passion for life will live in the hearts of all who love her. She displayed great courage and strength as she trusted in the Lord, prayed in faith, and walked with Him daily. She will always be remembered for her unwavering faith, joy, persevering strength, grace and abundant love for her grandchildren, family, and friends.
