

Nathaniel Breaker, age 85, of Missouri City, Texas, passed away on March 31, 2026. He was born on June 4, 1940, in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late Ezekiel and Victoria Breaker. In 1959, Nathaniel graduated from Gilbert High School, where his love for music was cultivated through his participation as a trombonist in the school's marching band.
He enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country for 21 years before retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. During his naval career, he was also an active member of the Blue Jackets Choir. On June 25, 1966, Nathaniel married the love of his life, Annie Mae Goodlow.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland while serving in the United States Navy and following his retirement from military service, obtained certificates in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration from Houston Community College.
Following his military service, Nathaniel embarked on a second career with the United States Postal Service, where he worked for 25 years as a dedicated letter carrier. Known for his humor and love of poetry, he also served as safety captain for Dunlop Station, bringing encouragement and creativity to the role and an impeccable safety record to the workplace.
Nathaniel, affectionately known as “Nat”, “Na”, “Honey”, “Dad”, “Daddy”, and “Papa”, found great joy in fishing, music, and spending countless hours watching Astros baseball and cheering on any Houston sports team. He was a devoted member of Christ Presbyterian Church, where he served for over four decades as a deacon and elder and shared his musical gift as a choir vocalist and soloist. Above all, Papa treasured time spent with his grandchildren and took immense pride in supporting their academic, artistic, and athletic endeavors.
Nathaniel was preceded in death by his parents, Ezekiel and Victoria Breaker; his siblings, Cynthia Breaker Dixon (Artis) and Ezekiel Breaker, Jr. (Marion); and his cousins, Desi McCoy, Michael McCoy, and Jimmie McCoy. He is survived by his spouse, Annie Mae Breaker, his children, Stacey McGaha, Karan Prince (Michael), Kimberly Price (Landrum), and Keegan Breaker (Joyce) grandchildren, Michael McGaha, Erika Martin, Jacob Breaker (Aviance), Nia Prince, Michael Prince, Micah Breaker, Jeremiah “JP” Price, Chloe Breaker, Joshua Breaker. Great-grandchildren Lukas Martin, My’loe McGaha, AJ McGaha, Lennox Martin, Norali Breaker, and Noa Breaker, his siblings Delores Woodcox (the late Charles), Ronald Breaker (Barbara), Ethel Jean Johnson (the late Phillip), cousins William McCoy, Louise McCoy, and Antoinette Owens, and a host of nieces, nephews, church family, and friends.
A Celebration of Life honoring Nathaniel will be held at Settegast‑Kopf Funeral Home, located at 15015 Southwest Freeway in Sugar Land, Texas, on Thursday, April 9, at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. Gale Kennebrew. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Houston National Cemetery on Tuesday, April 14, at 2:00 p.m.
