

Nelson Fitzgerald was born on March 14,1946 to Will Kirk Sr. and Ella Mae Fitzgerald in Richmond, TX. He was an only child. Nelson attended Crabb Elementary, Northside Elementary and graduated from A. W. Jackson High School. Nelson united with Christ at Pilgrim Journey Baptist Church at an early age. After some time away, Nelson returned to his faith. He not only re-united with the church, but became a faithful servant. He was found faithful in his time, tithe and talent, and as a result was added to the church finance team, and later became the church treasurer and building fund custodian. He served in the position of church Trustee, and later was elevated to the position of Deacon. He served on the Board of Deacons and Trustees in remarkable fashion until the Lord said “Servant Well Done!” Nelson worked for Lamar Consolidated School District for 35 years. His professions included Bus Driver, Copier Technician, and eventually Computer Technician. Nelson was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eddie Kirk Sr. and Arthelia Dickson Kirk, and Ed and Sarah Fitzgerald, father Will Kirk Sr., and grand-daughter, Galencia Symone Gross. While he was an only child, he leaves to cherish his memories his children, 21 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Pilgrim Journey Baptist Church, located at 2022 Ransom Rd, Richmond, TX 77469 on Saturday, April 15, 2017 from 10:00 A.M.-11:00A.M., with Funeral services beginning at 11:00 A.M with Pastor Robert Simpson Jr. officiating.
