Peggy dedicated her life to her family, her little "white dogs" and her students. She taught 4th grade at Settlers Way Elementary, impacting hundreds of young minds. Above all, Dee lived her life for her family, insisting that time spent together forged lifelong bonds. She personified this belief by hosting family trips local and abroad, never missing one of the kids' games or big events, and generally showing up for everyone all the time. She selflessly put everyone else before her. She never slowed down, whether this meant hiking Machu Picchu with a broken foot, hobbling through Spain with an injured spine, riding sidecar in a motorcycle at 80 years old through the hills of Italy, zip lining across a valley in Costa Rica, matching the kids' inexhaustible energy through multiple trips to Disney, or trekking across a minefield in Israel . . . just to name a few. Somehow, she knew just the right time to drop "a special choice word" that made everyone fall over laughing. No one could get away with what Dee did, but we could not get enough. Her big, irreverent, magnetic personality attracted every person she met, and she never met a stranger. God truly broke his mold when he made "Dee Dee," and she will be sorely missed.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Betsy Snyder. Unbelievably, her husband of 58 years, Cary Brandom, lost his battle to cancer just two weeks after she passed. Comfort is knowing that they are in Heaven together.
Dee loved so many, even taking into her heart and home kids that were not her own. Surviving Dee are her daughter Julie Atun and son-in-law Victor Atun, her son John Brandom and daughter-in-law Kelly Brandom; her grandchildren, Skylar Shaw, Zach and Tyler Brandom, and Sean and Callie Atun; her nephew, Austin Snyder; and her sister, Cindy Snyder.
A Celebration of Peggy's Life will be held for close family and friends on January 17, 2026.
