Raymond Dwight Shelton

Raymond Dwight Shelton was born June 5, 1933 and passed away October 19, 2016. He is survived by his sons Drew and Gary, granddaughters Jennifer and Kimberly, sister Janie Shelton Taylor Corbett, daughter-in-law Therese Sullivan Shelton, and numerous extended family members and close friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Delores Mae Spain Shelton.

Ray was born in Boswell, OK, lived in Columbia, MO, graduated from high school in Wichita Falls, TX, and earned a BS in Chemistry from Midwestern University before he was 20. He worked for Gulf Oil Company in Houston for 35 years and Champion Technologies for 14 years. He most recently lived in Georgetown, TX with Drew and his family.

He was baptized in the Methodist Church. He was married at St. Paul’s Methodist Church in downtown Houston. Most recently, Ray was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Georgetown.

Ray was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Ray's life touched many and he will be missed dearly. His family is grateful that he is now at peace and has rejoined his beloved wife with his Father in Heaven.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 21, 2016 from 6-8 PM at Settegast-Kopf Funeral Home, 15015 SW Fwy, Sugar Land, TX 77478. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the funeral home, followed by a reception. A graveside service will be held 1:30 PM at Forest Park Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer, Houston, TX 77077. Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, First United Methodist Church in Georgetown, or any food bank.
