Rhonda Crowell Tanguay passed at home on July 3rd 2024 at the age of 69 after an extended battle with brain cancer. She is survived by her brothers Ron and Ray, her daughter Amy, her son Chris, his wife Melanie, and their two sons Brandon and Kieran.
Rhonda was born in Houston, Texas on April 13th, 1955, to Lou and Louise Crowell. She grew up in Stafford, Texas and attended Dulles High School in Missouri City. After graduating high school, she worked in the hotel industry and as a temp for Kellog Root and Brown, where she met the love of her life, Dennis Tanguay. The couple was married in 1980 and spent some very pleasant childless years until the arrival of their son Chris in 1983. Their daughter Amy arrived 2 years later to complete the family.
Rhonda wore many hats in her life: sage, daughter, wife, mother, school attendance clerk, friend, caregiver, and the list goes on. However, she constantly asserted that being a mom was the most important role that she would ever have. Her love was quiet yet fierce, and she never hesitated a second to do anything or make any sacrifice for her family. This selflessness was such a hallmark of hers that her family nicknamed her “Saint Rhonda”, which is at once quite true and quite ironic if you know anything of both Rhonda and her immediate family.
This love also extended to everyone she encountered; she never met a stranger and never passed an opportunity to let someone know they were valued and cared for. On the rare occasion that she didn’t care for someone, you knew that they weren’t worth a damn.
It’s impossible to sum up a rich and well-lived life, so we will leave you with what Rhonda would have wanted you to know.
• Be kind, gentle, and empathetic.
• Always look for creative solutions to your problems.
• Stay silly sometimes.
• Holding onto anger isn’t worth it.
• If your head hurts, you can fix it by letting someone stamp on your foot - really hard.
We love you gobs and oodles and bunches, Mom!
