Stephen "Smitty" Gerald Smith

Steve was born in Montgomery, Alabama, to Odell Smith and Nell (Davis) Smith on December 3, 1949. He married Gloria (Levasseur) Smith from Lowell, Massachusetts.

Steve graduated from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. He worked as a Civil Engineer for over 40 years. One of his favorite projects was serving as the project manager for the construction of Enron Field (Daikin Park) home of the Houston Astros. His family enjoyed attending Astros games at Enron Field and was so proud of the job he did in helping to complete the construction of the field.

Steve loved playing golf and watched it on Sundays in his favorite recliner. But most of all he loved watching his beloved Auburn Tigers play football. He loved reading before bed. His favorite author was John Grisham.

Steve is preceded in death by his father, Odell Smith and his mother, Nell (Davis) Smith, and his brothers Don Smith (Wanda), Rick Smith, Russell Smith (Diane), and Mike Smith (Terri).

Steve is survived by his wife, Gloria Levasseur-Smith, of Sugar Land, TX, his daughter Jennifer Levasseur of Breckenridge, CO, his sister-in-law Terri Smith of Morris, Alabama, and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to St. Laurence Church’s Loving Seniors and the nurse practitioners from Village Medical who have worked with the family for the last 10 years to help keep Steve healthy at home.
