Suzanne Marie Lackey

She was born on the 18th of June 1938, in Trenton, New Jersey, the daughter of Frank B. Harker and Rhea F. Harker.

Suzanne is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Frank B. Harker, Jr. She is survived by her husband, Donald L. Lackey, Jr., her daughter Caron Jackson and her husband, Michael, her son John Ross, her stepdaughter Sarah A. Medearis and her husband, Scott, and her granddaughter Catherine A. Jackson.

After raising her two children, Suzanne returned to academics to complete the studies she had begun earlier in her life. Suzanne graduated Summa Cum Laude from Houston Baptist University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She went on to attain a Master of Arts degree in 1987 from the University of Houston – Clear Lake. Suzanne knew throughout her studies that family counseling was her vocation, and she devoted the next thirty years of her life to helping families cope with the challenges of our complex world.

Suzanne and her husband, Don, worshipped regularly at Second Baptist Church on Woodway where she found not only spiritual nourishment but also inspiration for her counseling practice.

Suzanne delighted in the many international river cruise trips that she and Don took over the years. Whether it was sailing down the Rhine River and visiting magnificent cathedrals or cruising the Nile and gazing with wonder at the pyramids, she loved the adventure of exploring new places.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Methodist Hospital Sugar Land and Kindred Hospital Sugar Land for their kind and capable care. We are also deeply grateful for the condolences and prayers from our loved ones.

A funeral service for Suzanne will be held Friday, February 25, 2022 from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM at The Settegast-Kopf Company @ Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Fwy, Sugar Land, TX 77478, followed by a reception from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM. A burial will take place at Forest Park Cemetery, Shreveport LA on Monday February 28, 2022 at 12:00 NOON.
