Sylvia Sue (Broussard) Adickes, 66, of Richmond, Texas, passed away at home on October 30, 2021. She was born in Jennings, Louisiana on July 30, 1955 to Cleveland and Dorothy Guidry Broussard. She attended McNeese State University and studied nursing before marrying Herbert Allen Adickes in February of 1974. They moved to Texas and over their 47 year marriage, they raised 3 daughters, and kept watch over 7 grandchildren.
Sue worked for Lamar CISD for 19 years at Huggins Elementary in Fulshear, Texas as a Food Service Manager. She served as the President and President Elect of the Lamar Food Service Association for several years. During her time with the organization, she helped to raise money for scholarships for local students. She was also a member of St. Faustina Catholic Church.
Sue enjoyed cooking and baking, especially around the holidays. For many years, she was known for the boxes full of baked goods that she would give as gifts. She enjoyed her retirement and spent her time reading, crocheting, watching her grandchildren play and swim, and driving around town with Herbert.
She loved her grandchildren beyond what they might ever know. She was MawMaw to them and she spoiled them all. There weren’t many days when she and Herbert didn’t have grandchildren over or weren’t stopping by their houses with treats.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her brother Ronnie Broussard, her nephew Charlie Broussard, and her great niece Kaylee Jade Dugas.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert, her daughters, Jenny Silver (Stephen), Amanda Davis (Omar), Sara Burke (Ryan), all residing in Richmond, Texas, her seven grandchildren, Eli, Tyson, and Kayla Silver, Remy and Maya Davis, and Derek and Chase Burke, her siblings Clifford Broussard, Bernie Broussard, Juanita “Chip” Breaux, and Vickie Dugas and numerous nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and grand nephews.
