

JEAN GARRISON, age 87, of Sugar Land, TX, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 9, her 87th birthday. Friends are invited to a visitation with the family from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, April 11, 2013, at The Settegast-Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land (Williams Trace Exit). Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, April 12, 2013, at Christ United Methodist Church, 3300 Austin Parkway, Sugar Land, with the Rev. Linda Summers Pierce, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the ALS Foundation @ www.alsfoundation.org.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne I. Garrison; and son, Dr. Wayne “Butch” Garrison. She is survived by her daughter, Terrie Garrison Gornet and her husband David of Sugar Land, TX; four grandchildren, Robert Garrison of Belleview, MO, Lanny Garrison of Camp Verde, AZ, Chris Gornet and his wife Bonnie of Lafayette, LA, and Meghann Gornet of Sugar Land, TX; and cousin, Jim Mosby and his wife Margaret of Houston, TX.
Jean was born April 9, 1926, in Cowgill, MO, to James Harlow and Inez Copple Harlow. She graduated from Central High School in Kansas City, MO. In 1946, Jean married Wayne I. Garrison of Raytown, MO. Together they lived in Raytown, Tulsa, OK, and then settled in Overland Park, KS. Jean moved to Texas after Wayne’s passing to be nearer her daughter and grandchildren. Jean was an avid golfer, a longtime member of Brookridge Country Club in Overland Park and of Sweetwater Country Club in Sugar Land, who participated in many ladies leagues and women’s golf events in the Kansas City metropolitan area. She loved to play bridge, to socialize, and participate in family activities. She was known for her cooking and baking.
Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend that will be greatly missed by the many people whose lives she touched.
Interment will be alongside her husband of 52 years, Wayne, at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, in Kansas City, MO.
