

Nell has resided in Sulphur for 70 years, was born in Plain Dealing, LA and graduated from Plain Dealing High School and Northwestern State College. She taught at Sulphur High School, and later worked and retired from The Chateau Charles where she was the Executive Assistant to Mr. Tullos. Nell volunteered with WCCH Ladies Auxiliary for over 25 years and was a member of Houston River Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, James “Jim” R. Barrett, Jr. (Graciela) of Alice, TX; daughter, Charlotte L. Dailey (Garland) of Sulphur; brother, Thomas Rodgers (Norma) of Plain Dealing; grandchildren, Clint Barrett, Jennifer Farmer, Eric Barrett, Leandra Barrett, David Barrett and Damon Dailey; great grandchildren, Courtney Barrett, Kourtnee and Devin Dailey, Austin and Matthew Farmer; cousins; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, “Sweetie.”
She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Ralph” Barrett, Sr., son, David L. Barrett; and her parents, C.A. Rodgers, Sr. and Catherine Magaretha Steen Rodgers; brothers, C.A. Rodgers, Jr. and James A. Rodgers; sister, Louise R. Pilkinton; and granddaughter, Pilar Barrett.
Her funeral service will be Monday, July 27th at 1:30 pm in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Big Woods Cemetery of Edgerly. The Rev. Lonnie Gothrup will officiate.
