Charles Antonio Jinks, 83, of Johnson Bayou, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones. Charles was born on April 22, 1940 to Ira and Maydell Jinks. He was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson Bayou.
His hobbies in life were keeping his yard, house and vehicles neat as a pin. He loved the art of finding a good antique. He also enjoyed raising horses and cattle. Charles never lost the sparkle in his captivating blue eyes and his charming gentlemen ways. He took much satisfaction and joy in being able to help his children, whether it be helping with a project or anything in their time of need. Charles took pleasure in helping his children and grandchildren in their sporting events. His absolute fulfillment in life was loving and caring for his beautiful bride and loving wife of 58 years, Jackie.
Like his maternal Grandfather who he was named after, Antonio Raggio, he shared the same love and devotion for his beloved Johnson Bayou, which he affectionately called "The Land of Milk and Honey". In 1959, he graduated from Johnson Bayou High School as a Wildcat and later became the #1 Rebel fan. He worked 32 years as an operator for Mobil Oil. After Hurricane Rita, he began working for the Johnson Bayou waste collection.
Survivors include his children, Charlene Young and husband Phil of Many, Trudy Young of Johnson Bayou, and Clayton Jinks and wife Angie of Lake Charles; siblings, James Lee Jinks and wife Arean, Larry Allen Jinks, Roger Dale Jinks and wife Charlotte, and Juanita Jinks Sandifer and husband Dusty; eight grandchildren: Adam, Katie, Kandace, Damian, Ashtyn, Camren, Chance, and Reece; and eight great-grandchildren: Trevor, Duncan, Lainey, Charley, Paisley, Allie,Gracie and Baker Charles.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jackie Authement Jinks; infant son, Marion Ira Jinks; parents, Ira Millage and Maydell Raggio Jinks; sister, Faye Marie (Myrtle) Watkins; and son-in-law, Paul Young.
Funeral Services will be at 11 A.M. on Thursday, March 7, 2024 in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Reverend Floyd Peterson will officiate. Burial will follow at Head of the Hollow Cemetery in Johnson Bayou under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Thursday from 8:30 A.M. until time of service in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Clayton Jinks, Phil Young, Adam Young, Damian Jinks, Camren Hare, Mitchell Kyle, Nat Griffith, and Larry Jinks.
