She was a native of Welsh and had been a resident of Choupique for nearly 60 years. Clara attended St. Theresa Catholic Church in Carlyss and Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church in Sulphur where she volunteered helping with church festivals and other church functions, as well as serving as a CCD teacher. She worked for many years as a school bus driver with the Calcasieu Parish School Board. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, baking (especially wedding cakes), fishing with her husband, Cajun-French dancing, playing cards, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Pam Reed and husband, James of Carlyss, Mendy Schoppe and husband, Eric of Austin, Texas, Nancy Horn and husband, Craig of Jasper, Texas, Becky Verret of Sulphur, Cindy Goodrich and husband, Ray of Denham Springs, and Aaron Dronette and wife, Lena of Gillis; her siblings, Amanda Faust of Welsh, Ronald Mier of Houston, Texas, Loretta Myers of West Monroe, and Deborah Wagner of Fredericksburg, Virginia; fifteen grandchildren, Courtney Kelley, Raleigh Reed, Bryce Schoppe, Allison Schoppe, Cory Ellison, Justin Ellison, Garrett Ellison, Blake Ellison, Cody Verret, Dustin Goodrich, Eric Goodrich, Luke Goodrich, Dylan Goodrich, Samantha Goodrich, and Aydan Dronette; and eighteen great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Anthony Ray Dronette; her parents, Reo Mier, Jr. and Pearly Alleman Mier; and a great-grandson, Gabriel Verret.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 1, in St. Theresa Catholic Church. The Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.
