COLTON WAYNE PEVETO
Colton Wayne Peveto walked into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on November 14, 2015 at the age of 16 surrounded by the devoted embrace of his family.
Born on June 10, 1999, in Sulphur. Colton was a junior at Sulphur High School and was blessed with the fulcrum of amazing friends who lifted him up during his 20-month journey.
During the last six weeks of his life, Colton watched with great anticipation for the hands of his clock to reach 3:30 so that he could welcome the hands of his friends as they dropped by after school. They shared their days with him to offer him a semblance of normalcy in an existence unreasonable for youth. Yet, his strength and determination will be his legacy to all who loved him.
Colton was an avid athlete. During his young life, he played football, baseball and was a member of the Sulphur High School wrestling team. He had unrelenting passion for his LSU Tigers, thus one of his greatest highlights was to stand on the sideline during an LSU game.
He did not let that which ravaged his body discourage the joy in his life. Just a short month ago, Colton was presented the opportunity for the most meaningful deer hunt of his life thanks to Rusty Antler Ranch and Buckmasters. It was a radiant light during his final weeks.
Colton will be greatly missed by the Sulphur community as God worked through his tribulations to gather those around him together. He was a young man everyone would be proud to call son, brother, grandson, nephew and most importantly … friend.
Those left to cherish his memory and life include his mother, Amanda Guillory and fiancé Carl Broussard, and his father, Brent Peveto and wife Alice, all of Sulphur; paternal grandparents, Gerald Peveto, Suzanne Nelson, Danny Joe and Karen Daniels and Ken and Laura Moody, all of Sulphur; maternal grandparents, Ed and Kay Guillory, and Denise and Jess Harper, all of Lake Charles; paternal great-grandparents, Shirley and Gary Long; maternal great-grandparents, Mona Castillow and Peggy Guillory, both of Sulphur.
Colton was a big brother to Kyle Peveto, Braydon Peveto and Corbin Peveto, and step-brother to Dylan LeBlanc and Dalton LeBlanc. He was blessed with an extended family and leaves numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandfathers, Johnny Castillow, Floyd Guidry, Edward Guillory and Andrew Peveto; and a great-grandmother, Betty Peveto. A special thank you to Colton's caregivers, Diane and Laura with Southern Hospice, and to Kyle Daigle for his care over the last twenty months.
Honored to be pallbearers are Colton’s best friends, Will Baty, Chance Blanchard, Ty Fontenot, Layne Murrel, Seth Murrel and Dylan Wyatt.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Carlyss with Father Luke officiating. Burial will follow in Mimosa Pines South Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 – 9 p.m. with a rosary at 6p.m. Monday at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial. Words of comfort may be left at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com
