David, a lifelong Sulphur resident, was a member of the Sons of Legion Post 179 and worked as welder for many years. He enjoyed fishing, bingo and playing pool. He will be remembered as a hardworking and caring father who was always looking out for family and friends.
Survivors include his mother, Lucy Logue (Robert) of Lake Charles; special friend, Donna Reid of Sulphur; five children, Melissa Hebert(Mike) of Sulphur, Jason Abshire(Gabrielle) of Claremore, OK, Dale Abshire (Nickie) of Sulphur; Justin Abshire (Lexie) of Sulphur, and Chad LaPoint of Sulphur; brother, Karl “T-pot” Abshire of Sulphur; and nine grandchildren.
The family will host a celebration of David’s life at 6p.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2015 in the American Legion Post 179 Hall of Sulphur. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
