

Rayford was a Sulphur native and attended Our Lady of Lasallette Catholic Church. He worked for 13 years at Bob's Exxon before becoming a heavy equipment operator for Local 406. He retired from Mike Hooks, Inc. Rayford was loved by family and many friends.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years Ruby Lyons; children, Kathy Engel and husband Johnny of Sulphur; Linda Olsen of Sulphur; David Ray Lyons and wife Gea of Carlyss; and Dora Lynne Lyons Lopez and husband Roger of Sulphur; brother Jasper Lyons and wife Judy of Sulphur; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren with one on the way; several nieces and nephews; and close friends David Milstead of Alabama, and Earl Armstrong of Venice.
He is preceded in death by his parents Walker and Lovena Lyons; sister Nellie Grace Johnston and brother Crawford Lyons.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Lasallette Catholic Church. Deacon Johnny Mounce will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday with a Rosary at 6 p.m. and from 8:30 a.m. Thursday until time of service, all in the funeral home.
