He was a native of Levelland, Texas and had been a resident of Moss Bluff for the last seven years although he lived in several areas across the country throughout his military career. Eduardo retired from the United States Army after 22 years of service where he was a Combat Engineer in the 84th Engineering Battalion. After his retirement, he taught Pipefitting and Iron Reinforcement at Sowela Tech for several years. He was a jack of all trades and enjoyed cooking for his family, listening to country music, and especially enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Patricia Castillo of Moss Bluff; his children, Miranda English (Andrew), and Nickolis Castillo (Danielle), all of Levelland, Texas, Dakota Ryan Alexander (Alexis) of Lake Charles, and Dylan Ross Alexander (Jacey Benoit) of Sulphur; siblings, Eugenio R. Castillo (Virginia), Eulogio R. Castillo, Esmerelda Almager (Guadalupe), Anjelica Fragoso, Rosabel Castillo, Guadalupe Romo, Francisca Castillo (Jack Smith), and Criselda Castillo, all of Levelland, Texas, and Rosario Velardez (Roman) of Ashtabula, Ohio; his father-in-law, Donald Midkiff of Carlyss; his grandchildren, Finn English, Eisden Garcia, Kai Gay, Ellianna Grace Alexander, and Asher Blake Alexander; and twenty-seven nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eduardo G. Castillo, Sr. and Ines R. Castillo; his brothers, Daniel Castillo and Leonardo Castillo; and his mother-in-law, Anna Midkiff.
A Celebration of Eduardo’s Life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 1, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home led by Hixson’s Celebrant, Jody Tyler. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly. Pallbearers will be Nickolis Castillo, Dylan Alexander, Joe Chesson, Kaleb Primeaux, Anthony LeCroy, Zameron LeCroy, Johnny Primeaux, and Cody Guidry. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ellianna Grace Alexander and Asher Blake Alexander. Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. Friday with a Rosary service at 6 p.m. and from 10 am until the time of the service Saturday in the funeral home.
