

Francis was born in Port Arthur and grew up in Opelousas and lived in Lake Charles and then moved to Sulphur. He was a Veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He retired from the US Marines after 22 years of service and he also served 11 inactive duty with the Marine Reserves. He was a life member of the American Legion, Past Commandant and a life member of the Marine Corp League. Francis was an active member of American Veterans and VFW. After retiring from the military he went to work for Dimmick Supply.
He was a current member of Immaculate Conception Church and also was a 3rd and 4th degree Knights of Columbus. He also served as an usher for over 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, Vera Richard of Sulphur; daughter, Paula Guillory and husband Michael of Galveston; sons, Wayne Richard of Sulphur and Leonard Richard and wife, Daphne of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Kimberly Richard, Alex Richard and Layla Richard; great grandchild, Drake Diamond; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.
His funeral will be 10am, Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Visitation will begin Tuesday 5-8pm in the Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home with a scripture service at 6pm and resume Wednesday 8:30am until service time. Burial will be in Prien Memorial Park.
