He was a native and lifelong resident of Sulphur. He served two years in the U.S. Army and three years in the U.S. Air Force. F.J. retired from P.P.G. Industries after 13 years of service and had worked at Site Service Station. He was the owner and operator of Country Flea Market on Broad Street in Lake Charles.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Sylvia Simmons of Sulphur; his step-son, Ricky Jones and wife, Sharon of Virginia; two brothers, Kenneth Simmons and wife, Annie of Carlyss and Ronald Simmons and wife, Ruth of Sulphur; one sister, Virginia Smith of Orange, Texas; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Alva Simmons.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 12, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Arvin Harrell will officiate. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly. Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Monday in the funeral
