Geneva was born on March 20th, 1945 to her parents, Joseph and Lula Mae Guidry in Lafayette, LA. She attended Sulphur High School and SOWELA Technical College in her earlier years. She married James Provost on September 1st, 1962. Geneva was a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church where for 30 plus years she was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and was a past Regent. She dedicated over 20 years to the Calcasieu Cajun Club where she held the office of Secretary, Treasurer and Vice-President, but she will be remembered best as the Member-in-Charge of the Our Lady of Prompt Succor BINGO. Geneva enjoyed working in her yard, playing BINGO, and loving on her dogs. She treasured the time she spent with her family and friends. Her zest for life was contagious, and to know her was to love her!
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter, Becky Provost and wife Jo'Lene Huse of Daphne, AL; brother, Raymond Guidry of Sulphur; sister, Glenda Doucette and husband Alton "Jr." of Palestine, TX; her brothers-in-law, Rodney Provost and wife Diane of Fort Worth, TX, Larry Provost and wife Gayle of Sulphur, and Pat Provost and wife Joan of Sulphur; her godchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended family.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James "Jimmy" Provost; her parents; and her sister, Janie Santiny.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Khan and his staff, the APTC Unit at West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital and Christus Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion they provided to Geneva.
