

He was a native and lifelong resident of Sulphur. Herman served as a volunteer with the Seaman's Ministry at the Port of Lake Charles and he was a member of Central Baptist Church in Sulphur. He enjoyed doing anything outdoors but especially liked to mow his grass.
Survivors include five children, Addie Byrd and husband, Johnny of Jennings, Vera Morgan of Lake Charles, Ernest Ardoin and wife, Ellen of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Howard Ardoin and wife, Kayla of Sulphur, and Lee Ardoin of Texas; daughter-in-law, Virginia Ardoin; siblings, Margaret Quibodeaux of Carlyss, Anita Joyce Young, Elizabeth Ardoin, and Lilton Paul Ardoin, all of Sulphur, and Gilford Raymond Ardoin of Moss Bluff; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Crew Ardoin; his parents, Allen and Anita Ardoin; two children, Herman Ray Ardoin and Sharon Sue Ardoin; and nine siblings, Desire "Shorty" Ardoin, Amos John Ardoin, Wilmer Rose West, Allen Joseph Ardoin Jr, Leness B. Ardoin, Elvina Alpine, Ernest James Ardoin, Mary Ann Abshire, and Joseph Ardoin.
His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, January 5, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Trahan will officiate. Burial will be in Ardoin Cove Cemetery.
