Hester Mae Oquain

She was a native and lifelong resident of Carlyss before recently moving to Sulphur. Hester enjoyed reading, fishing and shrimping, being outdoors taking care of her flowers, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children, Shamralie Manuel, Mary Sheumaker and husband, Harold, Bryant Oquain and wife, Sharon, Madeleine "Madge" Thibodeaux and husband, Brian, and Cynthia Landry and husband, Gralynn, all of Sulphur, and Catherine Hutchison of Shiloh, Tennessee; her siblings, Gordon Vincent, Hilma Thibodeaux, and Barbara Schmitt, all of Sulphur, and Steven Vincent of Edgerly; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and fifteen great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Elridge Oquain.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Deacon Patrick Lapoint will officiate. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly. Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. Monday with a rosary service at 6:30 p.m. and will resume from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday in the funeral home.
