He was a native of Oklahoma and had been a resident of Sulphur for the last 10 years. Howard enjoyed going to the casino, listening to music, telling stories, and spending time with his family. He was a proud father who loved his family dearly and often bragged on them often.
He is survived by his children, David Scarborough and wife, Taryn of Lake Charles, and Christine Routt Hunter of Sulphur; the mother of his children, Hope A. Drummond of Sulphur; his siblings, Kirby Michael Routt of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Timothy Charles Routt, Mary Ann Lewis, and John Routt, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and his grandchildren, Shane Scarborough, Evelyn Scarborough, Hailey Cartelli, and Adam O'Donnell. He is preceded in death by his parents, Kirby Routt and Mary Fitch; and his sister, Barbara Kay Routt.
A Celebration of Howard's Life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 22, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home, led by Hixson Celebrant - Jody Barrilleaux. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service Friday in the funeral home.
