

Born in New Orleans, she received a B.S. degree in Chemistry from LSU and was first employed by the Texas Company in Port Arthur, Texas where she met her future husband. They soon moved to Sulphur. She taught for a number of years in the Special Education program of Calcasieu Parish Schools. Later, she was employed by McNeese State University as a chemistry lab instructor until her retirement. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother and loved nothing more than spending time with her beloved family.
Survivors include her three children, Dr. Dean L. Manning and wife, Pamela of Sulphur, Bonnie K. Brugh and husband, Jim of Baton Rouge, and David L. Manning and wife, Jackie of Denham Springs; five grandchildren, Dean J. Manning, Dr. Bryan A. Manning, Dr. Jessica L. Babineaux, Angela Manning-Istre, and Brandon J. Babineaux; nine great-grandchildren, Stone, Henry, Hannah, Ella, and Luke Manning, Kieren Cockerham, Collin Turnipseed, and Ariel and Rayna Istre. She is preceded in death by her parents, John Herbert and Irma Lindee Ahrens; two brothers, Robert and Bruce Ahrens; a granddaughter, Diana Manning; and her beloved husband of 60 years, Dean Royal Manning.
A private service will be held at Green Oaks Cemetery in Baton Rouge.
