

James was a native of Virginia, lived in Sulphur for 48 years and was a member of the VFW. He enjoyed gardening and tending to his plants. James canned his own peppers and pickles. He was a good husband and father.
Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years Claudia Church; sons, Ricky Church, Sr., and his wife Twyla, of Iowa, Mike Church and his wife Dawn, of Sulphur, and Jamy Church of Sulphur; daughter, Angie Andrus of Sulphur; step daughters, Debbie Dronet McKelvy, and her husband Daryl, of Sulphur, and Tina Dronet Stanley, and her companion Chris Conner, of Sulphur; stepsons, Larry Dean Dronet of Sulphur, and David Dronet and his wife Lennise, of Sulphur; brothers Herman Church of Haysi, Va., and Jack Church of Haysi, Va.; 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Tyrie and Dora Church, and grandson, Jared Andrus.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Wednesday, all at the funeral home.
