He was a native of Kinder and had been a resident of Sulphur for over 80 years. He was a World War II and Korean War U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, Woodmen of the World, VFW Post #8107, and Boilermaker's Local #79 Union. James enjoyed carpentry work and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his children, Susan Duhon, Cathy Watts and husband, Glenn, and Richard “Rick” Duhon and wife Sunne, all of Sulphur, and Beth Richard and husband, Allen of Natchez, Mississippi; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Bourg Duhon; his parents, Willis Duhon and Olivia Miller Duhon; and his siblings, Marie Racca, Ethel McFerrin, Dorothy Drost, and Hubert Duhon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 3, in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. The Rev. Edward Richard, M.S. will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery in Sulphur under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Catholic Charities.
