

Jeremy was born in Lake Charles, La., and grew up in Sulphur. He attended Sulphur High School, where he was involved in choir and graduated from Barbe High School in 1990. He continued his education at McNeese State University and went on to pursue his bachelor’s degree at University of New Orleans, and his Ph.D. at the University of Kentucky. Jeremy spent most of his life residing in Lexington, Ky., and New Orleans, La. Jeremy served as an instructor of record at the University of Kentucky for several years and was passionate about teaching sociology. Jeremy was a thrill seeker and enjoyed skydiving, bungee jumping, whitewater rafting and riding roller coasters.
Survivors include his father, Tommy Kerr and wife Lori of Sulphur; his mother, Sharon Moore Grindol and husband John of Tennessee; his grandmother, Marie Young of Sulphur; his sister, Tamberly Conway and husband Warren of Washington, D.C.; and step siblings, Scott Allen of Newton, Iowa, Saralyn Carrigan of Marshalltown, Iowa, Karen Hollingsworth of Chicago, Ill., and Gene Peters of Davenport, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, JC Young; and grandparents, Robert and Rosa Kerr.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Dr. Ronnie Burke and the Rev. Chandler Willis will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Lake Charles. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service Saturday in the funeral home.
