

Dr. Gregory was born in New Orleans on December 3, 1935 and his family moved to Sulphur in 1951. He graduated from Sulphur High School in 1953. He worked in the research lab at Citgo Petroleum from 1956 to 1966. In 1966 he attended Loyola University School of Dentistry and graduated Cum Laude in 1971. In 1973 he received his Post Doctrate from the University of Pennsylvania with a certificate in the specialty of orthodontics.
Dr. Gregory opened the first orthodontic practice in Sulphur in 1973. He was a member of the American Board of Orthodontics, the Louisiana Dental Association, the American Dental Association, Calcasieu Parish Dental Association, SW Louisiana Dental Association and he was a Diplomat of the American Association of Orthodontics. He was also a member of the SW Louisiana Fishing Club, Sulphur Rotary Club, and was past President of the McNeese Cowboy Club. Dr. Gregory was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Darlin Catacutan Gregory; two sons, John Batt "Trey" Gregory, III and William Joseph Gregory, all of Sulphur; two daughters, Desiree Kethman and husband, Harold of Clearlake, Texas, and Linda Moffett of Lake Charles; one brother, Richard Joseph Gregory and wife, Charlotte of Sulphur; his former wife, Madylene Philen Gregory of Lake Charles; and six grandchildren, Lauren, Ashley, and Abigail Moffett, and William, Molly, and Matthew Kethman. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Molly Gregory; and a brother, William Gregory.
Funeral services for Dr. Gregory will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Pallbearers are John Perry, Richard Gregory Jr.,John Bruney, Will Kethman, Mathew Kethman, Scott Taylor andJohn Batt Gregory.
Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Visitation will be at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. today with a scripture service at 7 p.m. and beginning 10 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. The family asks that memorial donations be made to T.S. Cooley Elementary School in Lake Charles.
