Johnette was a longtime member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Daughters.
Johnette was beautiful inside and out. She grew up in Avoyelles Parish and attended USL and Loyola University and was a graduate from McNeese State University with a Bachelors Degree in Education. She was a devoted wife and mother. She taught at Our Lady’s School and Sulphur High in Sulphur, LA.
Johnette worked in Radio at KSNS and KYKZ and rose to the top becoming one of the few female sales managers where she won multiple awards and organized a successful breast cancer breakfast. She started over in her 50’s in television sales and had a very successful career and worked until she became ill in 2016. She loved traveling, music, shopping, fashion, watching her favorite shows, was a gourmet cook, even though in her last years she could not eat.
Johnette was a superpower in all aspects of life. She even interviewed the Beatles. She was not only a survivor, but a warrior. She overcame hurricanes, multiple diseases, and tragedies. She maintained a positive attitude and smile even at the end. She was sensitive, loyal, and creative and thankfully documented everything with her love of photography and thoughtfulness.
Johnette was preceded in death by her parents, John Sr. and Hilda Mayeux, and a brother, John Hardy Mayeux, Jr.
She is survived by her tight-knit family: a husband of 51 years, Lelan, her daughter Gina and son-in-law Michael, and her sister, Susanne Fos and brother-in-law, Johnny. In her last days, she even comforted her family. She put others' needs above her own, had undying faith and empathy and put family above everything. Above all, Johnette was classy, loving and forgiving, and she was a beautiful gardener.
