She was a native of McNary and had been a resident of Lake Charles since 1953. Joyce was a member of University United Methodist Church in Lake Charles. She enjoyed gardening, especially potted plants and flowers, and loved crafting, crocheting, sewing, making rag rugs, and collecting antiques.
Survivors include her children, Thomas Scott Johnson and wife, Neysa of Sulphur and Rebecca Susan Chafin and husband, Paul of Lake Charles; her sister, Carolyn Diane Perkins of Baton Rouge; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Leo Johnson; and her siblings, Bubba Brabham and Dr. James Leander Brabham.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 21 at Consolata Cemetery in Lake Charles. The Rev. Angela Cooley Bulhof will officiate. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.hixsonsulphurmemorial.com for the Johnson family.
